As you have no doubt seen in the news Kathmandu has suffered severe earthquakes in recent weeks and as a result many have lost their lives, thousands of buildings have been destroyed and the vast majority of the city’s infrastructure has been paralysed.
Here at Dumball HQ, we have been thinking long and hard about the best thing to do in these circumstances and we have decided that we’re almost certain that the last thing Nepal needs right now is a gang of idiots in fancy dress desperately trying to decorate their cars in under 24 hours…even if it is for a great cause.
We love the idea of starting a rally in Kathmandu, and we are committed to taking the Dumball there in the future, we just want to give them a little bit of 
time to heal before we hit them with our unique brand of madness. So for 2016 the plan has now changed. It’s a Goa! will now see us drive from Chennai, around ’the bum’ of India, via the Rameswaram bridge, through the Ranni jungle, over the Idukki Dam (google this stuff!) through the backwaters of Kerela and into Goa where we will stay in the tropical paradise of Palolem. Please keep checking the website at dumball.org for updates as the 2016 route is confirmed.
Now if for any reason you are unhappy with the change, then please get in touch and we will be happy to refund your deposit (less the booking fee). We understand that this new route, as awesome as it is, is not the one we advertised. If you are happy, and want to remain in the game then you don’t have to do anything. Just pay your balance by 30th July and you are coming on the road trip of a lifetime. If you had opted in to a flight to Kathmandu, now you have opted in to a flight to Chennai. The dates of the event have not changed.
As for the people of Kathmandu, although we are a Teenage Cancer Trust event, we want to do something to help, and so proceeds from the Indian Summer dumBall this September will be split between the TCT and the earthquake appeal. Details of the party will follow in the next few weeks. You can also text Nepal to 70000 to donate £5 – we recommend that all dumballers do this right away!
If you are unsure about the final balance that needs to be paid, please ask your team leader (the person who registered your team in the first place). They have been given the total amount payable as well as our bank details via email. If you would like us to send these to you direct, then please drop us a line.
