With nothing Toulouse behind us (yes, we’re still proud of that pun), Dumball rolled on to Andorra – the world’s cheekiest mountain tax haven, now officially ticked off the Dumball map.
Today had it all:
- Possibly the most petrol stations per mile in Europe. We tested them all. Several times.
- A border crossing (finally!) with more confusion than drama.
- And the world’s longest alpine toboggan ride – aka The Tobotronc – which sounds like a Transformer, rides like a rollercoaster, and may have reawakened several people’s fear of gravity.
Gone were the endless French motorways. In their place? Glorious hairpin climbs and Pyrenean views that made even the most knackered bangers feel heroic. The route twisted through ski towns and smugglers’ roads before spitting us out at the top of Andorra like sparkly rally goats.
The Tobotronc itself? A 500-metre vertical winch drag to the heavens, followed by a 5km white-knuckle descent that defies logic, brakes, and dignity. Plenty of screams. Plenty of GoPros. One or two existential crises.
From there, it was down into Spain through some of the most beautiful valleys and winding roads we’ve ever tried to navigate with a hangover.
Our final destination? The ridiculously picturesque Monasterio de Boltaña – a 17th-century monastery-turned-hotel that, obviously, laid on a full-blown rock concert just for us. Because nothing says spiritual retreat like power chords and glowsticks under ancient arches.
Another border crossed, another car barely clinging on, and another night of Dumball proving it’s the world’s most organised chaos.
And- as far as we can tell, all cars that set off are still on the road!
